Does Listening To Music Improve Your Gains?

Most people will swear by the fact that music makes their workouts so much better, but is there any science to back this up?

Luckily there's plenty, with studies showing increases in sprint speed & muscular endurance (Simpson et al., 2006, Crust 2004)

Bartolomei et al. (2015), showed that self-selected music had a positive effect on maximal bench strength as well as strength endurance. Other helpful benefits include subjective mood improvements, decreased cortisol levels , skill acquisition benefits, decreased RPE, which all positively effect performance (Terry et al., 2006)

To conclude, there is some solid evidence behind the ergogenic effects of music. Make sure not to forget your headphones for your next gym sessionĀ
